Check Output

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2015 Subaru Outback and 2015 Subaru Legacy. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check the voltage between connector terminals.

    Preparation tool:

    Circuit tester

    Terminal No. Inspection conditions Standard
2 - 3 Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 (+) - 3 (-). When pressing-in the end of the stop light switch to make the length (a) 3.6 mm (0.14 in) (the actual length will be a little shorter than 3.6 mm (0.14 in)), output voltage turns OFF. 0.5 V or less
Apply battery voltage between terminals 1 (+) - 3 (-). When returning the end of the stop light switch to make the length (a) 3.6 mm (0.14 in) (the actual length will be a little longer than 3.6 mm (0.14 in)), output voltage turns ON. 12 V
4 - 3 Apply battery voltage between terminals 5 (+) - 3 (-). When pressing-in the end of the stop light switch to make the length (a) 4.5 mm (0.18 in) (the actual length will be a little shorter than 4.5 mm (0.18 in)), output voltage turns ON. 12 V
Apply battery voltage between terminals 5 (+) - 3 (-). When returning the end of the stop light switch to make the length (a) 4.5 mm (0.18 in) (the actual length will be a little longer than 4.5 mm (0.18 in)), output voltage turns OFF. 0.5 V or less
  2. Replace the stop light switch if the inspection result is not within the standard value.
