Engine Assembly: Installation
- Using the ST1, install the ST2 to the engine unit.
Preparation tool:
ST1: BOLT (18363AA050)
ST2: HANGER (18360AA040)
Tightening torque:
43 N.m (4.4 kgf.m, 31.7 ft-lb)
- Install the engine mounting onto the engine.
Tightening torque:
35 N.m (3.6 kgf.m, 25.8 ft-lb)
- Position the engine in engine compartment and align it with transmission.NOTE: Be careful not to damage adjacent parts or body panels with crank pulley, oil level gauge, etc.
- With a lifting device and a garage jack, slowly lower the engine.
- Install the bolts which hold upper side of transmission to engine.
Tightening torque:
50 N.m (5.1 kgf.m, 36.9 ft-lb)
- Remove the garage jack.
- Remove the lifting device and wire ropes.
- Remove the ST1 and ST2 from the engine unit.
- Install the torque converter assembly to the drive plate.
- Remove the ST from converter case.NOTE: Be careful not to drop the ST into the converter housing when removing the ST.
- Insert the wrench into the crank pulley bolt, and rotate the crank pulley to attach the four bolts securing the torque converter assembly to the drive plate.NOTE: Be careful not to drop bolts into the converter housing.
Tightening torque:
25 N.m (2.5 kgf.m, 18.4 ft-lb)
- Fit the plug to service hole.
- Remove the ST from converter case.
- Install the starter. Ref. to STARTING/CHARGING SYSTEMS (H4DOTC)>STARTER>INSTALLATION .
- Place the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) to CVT, and temporarily tighten the upper bolt which secures the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature).
- Lift up the vehicle.
- Install the bolts and nuts which hold lower side of the transmission to engine.
Tightening torque:
50 N.m (5.1 kgf.m, 36.9 ft-lb)
- Install the nuts which hold the engine mounting to the crossmember COMPL front.CAUTION: Be sure to use a new nut.NOTE: Make sure that locators (a) of the engine mounting are securely inserted.
Tightening torque:
90 N.m (9.2 kgf.m, 66.4 ft-lb)
- Connect the ground cord.
Tightening torque:
7.5 N.m (0.8 kgf.m, 5.5 ft-lb)
- Install the lower bolt which secures CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) to the CVT and connect the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) water hose.
Tightening torque:
23 N.m (2.3 kgf.m, 17.0 ft-lb)
- Install the front exhaust pipe.
- Tighten the upper bolt which secures the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature) to the CVT.
Tightening torque:
23 N.m (2.3 kgf.m, 17.0 ft-lb)
- Connect the fuel delivery tube and evaporation hose.
- Connect the quick connector on the fuel delivery tube (C) to the fuel pipe, and install clip (B) to the intake manifold assembly.CAUTION:
- Check that there is no damage or dust on the quick connector. If necessary, clean the seal surface of the pipe.
- When connecting the quick connector, make sure to insert it all the way in before locking the slider.
- When it is difficult to lock the slider, check that the connector is fully inserted.
- After locking the slider, check that the quick connector is securely connected.
NOTE: Connect the quick connector as shown in the figure. - Connect the evaporation hose (A) to the vacuum pipe assembly.
- Connect the quick connector on the fuel delivery tube (C) to the fuel pipe, and install clip (B) to the intake manifold assembly.
- Place the vacuum pipe, and connect the brake booster vacuum hose (B) to the brake vacuum pump.
- Connect the water hose (A) to the CVTF cooler (with warmer feature).
- Install the pitching stopper. Ref. to CONTINUOUSLY VARIABLE TRANSMISSION (TR690)>TRANSMISSION MOUNTING SYSTEM>INSTALLATION>PITCHING STOPPER .
- Install the bolts securing the vacuum pipe to the engine rear hanger.
Tightening torque:
18 N.m (1.8 kgf.m, 13.3 ft-lb)
- Install the clip (D), clip (E) and clip (F), and connect connector (A), connector (B) and connector (C).
- Connect the heater inlet hose (A) and the heater outlet hose (B).NOTE: Be careful not to mix up the heater inlet hose and the heater outlet hose when connecting them.
- Set the engine wiring harness and secure the engine wiring harness to the bracket with the claw.
- Install the engine wiring harness to the clip (A), and connect the connector (B).
- Connect the connector (C) and connector (D) in numerical order shown in figure.
- Set the battery cable assembly, and secure the battery cable assembly with claw (B) and clip (A).
- Connect the hose - pressure suction and the hose - pressure discharge to the A/C compressor. Ref. to AIR CONDITIONER>HOSE AND PIPE>INSTALLATION .
- Secure the battery cable with the clip (A) and clip (B) in place.
- Connect the connector (C), connector (D), connector (E), and the terminal (F).
Tightening torque:
15.5 N.m (1.6 kgf.m, 11.4 ft-lb)
- Install the intake duct No. 1 and intake duct No. 2. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION>INTAKE DUCT NO. 1 . Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>INTAKE DUCT>INSTALLATION>INTAKE DUCT NO. 2 .
- Install the intercooler. Ref. to INTAKE (INDUCTION) (H4DOTC)>INTERCOOLER>INSTALLATION .
- Install the radiator. Ref. to COOLING (H4DOTC)>RADIATOR>INSTALLATION .
- Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Install the fuel filler cap, and close the fuel filler lid.
- Fill engine coolant. Ref. to COOLING (H4DOTC)>ENGINE COOLANT>REPLACEMENT>FILLING OF ENGINE COOLANT .
- Set the panel COMPL front hood to the normal position. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>STAY ASSEMBLY FRONT HOOD .
- Install the striker assembly front hood. Ref. to EXTERIOR BODY PANELS>FRONT HOOD>ASSEMBLY .
- Close the panel COMPL front hood.
