Fuel Pump: Removal
WARNING:
Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
CAUTION:
- Be careful not to spill fuel.
- Catch the fuel from the tubes using a container or cloth.
- If the fuel gauge indicates that two thirds or more of the fuel is remaining, be sure to drain fuel before starting work to avoid the fuel to spill.
NOTE:
Fuel pump assembly consists of fuel pump, fuel filter and fuel level sensor.
- Release the fuel pressure. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO(HEV))>FUEL>PROCEDURE>RELEASING OF FUEL PRESSURE .
- Drain fuel. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO(HEV))>FUEL>PROCEDURE>DRAINING FUEL (WITH SUBARU SELECT MONITOR) .
- Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- Remove the rear seat cushion. Ref. to SEATS>REAR SEAT>REMOVAL .
- Remove the service hole cover of fuel pump.
- Disconnect the connector from fuel pump.
- Disconnect the fuel delivery tube. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO(HEV))>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>REMOVAL>QUICK CONNECTOR DISCONNECTION (TYPE D) .
- Pull up and slide the rotation stopper hook (A) in the direction of the arrow, and remove the harness protector.
- Using the ST, remove the upper plate.CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the fuel delivery tube with the ST.
Preparation tool:
ST1: ST FUEL PUMP (42099FL000)
ST2: ST CAM (42099FL010)
- Remove the fuel pump assembly from the fuel tank.
CAUTION:
Be careful not to let the arm and float of the fuel level sensor contact the fuel tank.
