Draining Fuel Partially

WARNING: Place "NO OPEN FLAMES" signs near the working area.
CAUTION:
  • Be careful not to spill fuel.
  • Fuel may remain in the fuel filler pipe. Drain the fuel from the fuel filler pipe through the fill opening using the gasoline proof pump and the gasoline proof hose before the operation.
  1. Set the vehicle on a lift.
  2. Open the fuel filler lid and remove the fuel filler cap.
  3. Drain the fuel from the fuel filler pipe using the gasoline proof pump and the gasoline proof hose.
    CAUTION:
    • Be careful not to spill fuel.
    • Always collect fuel using a dedicated fuel container.
    1. Mark the location of the specified value of the gasoline proof hose.

      Specified value (hose insertion length):

      900 mm (35.43 in)

    2. Insert the gasoline proof hose through the fill opening to the marked location.
CAUTION: When inserting the hose into the fuel tank, the check valve may get damaged due to the hose being caught in the check valve while being pulled out. Thus, be careful not to insert the hose more than the specified value.
    3. Drain the fuel from the fuel filler pipe using the gasoline proof pump.
  4. Install the filler cap, and close the fuel lid.
  5. Disconnect the ground terminal from battery. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
  6. Lift up the vehicle.
  7. Set a container under the vehicle, and disconnect the circulate tube from the fuel tank. Ref. to FUEL INJECTION (FUEL SYSTEMS) (H4DO(HEV))>FUEL DELIVERY AND EVAPORATION LINES>REMOVAL>QUICK CONNECTOR DISCONNECTION (TYPE F) .
    CAUTION:
    • Be careful not to spill fuel.
    • Catch the fuel from fuel filler pipe and circulate tube using a container or cloth.
