Combination Meter System: Inspection: Switch

Illumination intensity does not change even when the illumination control switch is operated.

NOTE: Illumination intensity does not change even when the illumination control switch is operated with the lighting switch OFF.
  1. CHECK CURRENT DATA  .

    Display the data of [Bright switch input state] and [Illumination control switch input state] using Subaru Select Monitor. Ref. to COMBINATION METER (DIAGNOSTICS)>DATA MONITOR .

    Do the display change as [OFF] ←→ [ON] and the value range from 0 to 100 when the bright switch and illumination control switch are operated?

    Yes: Replace the combination meter assembly.

    No: Go to  2 .

  2. CHECK ILLUMINATION CONTROL SWITCH UNIT  .

    Check the illumination control switch. Ref. to INSTRUMENTATION/DRIVER INFO>SWITCHES AND HARNESS>INSPECTION>ILLUMINATION CONTROL SWITCH .

    Is the switch normal?

    Yes: Go to  3 .

    No: Replace the illumination control switch.

  3. CHECK HARNESS  .
    1. Disconnect the connectors of combination meter assembly and illumination control switch.
    2. Measure the resistance between the combination meter assembly and the illumination control switch.

    Connector and terminal 

    (i10) No. 29 - (i79) No. 6:

    (i10) No. 30 - (i79) No. 5:

    (i10) No. 31 - (i79) No. 4:

    (i10) No. 32 - (i79) No. 1:

    Is the resistance less than 1 Ω?

    Yes: Replace the combination meter assembly.

    No: Repair or replace the harness.
