Side Airbag Module: Installation
CAUTION:
- Refer to "CAUTION" of "General Description" before handling the airbag system components. Ref. to AIRBAG SYSTEM>GENERAL DESCRIPTION>CAUTION .
- Do not reuse the mounting nuts of the airbag module. Always replace with a new specified nut.
- Make sure that the side airbag module is installed as shown in the figure.
- Before installation, inspect the following items and replace any faulty part with a new one.
- Make sure that there is no foreign matter on side airbag module.
- Front seat, airbag module and mounting bracket are damaged or deformed.
- Harness and/or connector is cracked, deformed or open.
- Harness wire is exposed.
- Install the side airbag module to the seat frame assembly backrest.
Tightening torque:
6 N.m (0.6 kgf-m, 4.4 ft-lb)
- Assemble the front seat. Ref. to SEATS>FRONT SEAT>ASSEMBLY
.CAUTION: After restoring the seat, operate the reclining and sliding mechanisms to check that the side airbag harness is not caught.
- Install the belt assembly front INN. Ref. to SEAT BELT SYSTEM>FRONT SEAT BELT>INSTALLATION>BELT ASSEMBLY FRONT INN .
- Install the front seat to the body. Ref. to SEATS>FRONT SEAT>INSTALLATION
.CAUTION: If the passenger's seat bolts are loosened or the seat is removed, be sure to perform [Rezero] for the occupant detection system after installing the seat to the vehicle. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>REZERO .
- Connect the ground terminal to battery sensor. Ref. to REPAIR CONTENTS>NOTE>BATTERY .
- If the driver's seat for the model with door mirror interlocked seat position memory is removed, initialize the seat position memory control module. Ref. to SEATS>POWER SEAT SYSTEM>ADJUSTMENT .
- If the passenger's seat is removed, perform [Rezeroing] in the occupant detection system. Ref. to AIRBAG (DIAGNOSTICS)>REZERO .
