Drive Pinion: Disassembly

  1. Flatten the tab of the lock nut.
  2. Using ST1, ST2 and ST3, fix the drive pinion and remove the lock nut.

    Preparation tool: 

    ST1: ADAPTER (499787500)

    ST2: WRENCH (499787700)

    ST3: HOLDER (498937110)

  3. Remove the drive pinion.

  4. Remove the taper roller bearing (rear) inner race and the plug using a press and an attachment suitable for the press.

  5. Remove the drive pinion washer and drive pinion spacer.

  6. Remove the O-rings.

  7. Using the ST and a press, remove the taper roller bearing (front) inner race and the drive pinion shim.

    Preparation tool: 

    ST: REMOVER (498515500)

  8. Using the ST, remove the taper roller bearing (front) outer race and the taper roller bearing (rear) outer race.

    ST: PULLER ASSY (398527700)

  9. Using the ST, remove the oil seal on the front side and the oil seal on the rear side.
    CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the fitting surface of oil seal.

  10. Remove the plug.
