Extension Case: Installation
- Install the front output shaft thrust bearing race, output shaft thrust bearing, and rear output shaft thrust bearing race.NOTE: Make sure to install the front output shaft thrust bearing race, output shaft thrust bearing, and rear output shaft thrust bearing race in the right direction.
(A) Transmission case side (B) Transmission case (C) Front output shaft thrust bearing race (D) Output shaft thrust bearing (E) Rear output shaft thrust bearing race - Install the snap ring.
- Measure the clearance of the output shaft.
- Measure the clearance between the snap ring and rear output shaft thrust bearing race using a thickness gauge.
Specification:
0.02 - 0.12 mm (0.001 - 0.005 in)
- When the value exceeds the specification, adjust the thickness of the rear output shaft thrust bearing race based on the thickness of the rear output shaft thrust bearing race recorded in the removal step 9 so that the value is within the specification.
- Measure the clearance between the snap ring and rear output shaft thrust bearing race using a thickness gauge.
- Install a new extension case oil seal to the extension case. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>EXTENSION CASE OIL SEAL>REPLACEMENT .
- Press-fit a new dust cover using the ST and a press.
Preparation tool:
ST: INSTALLER (398177700)
- Apply liquid gasket to the mating surface of the extension case as shown in the figure, and temporarily install the extension case.CAUTION:
- Be careful not to damage the oil seal of the extension case.
- Always use a new bolt.
NOTE:- Before applying liquid gasket, degrease the old liquid gasket seal surfaces of the extension case and transmission case.
- Install within 10 min. after applying liquid gasket.
Preparation items:
Liquid gasket: THREE BOND 1281 or equivalent
Liquid gasket applying diameter:
1.2 mm (0.05 in)
(A) M12 x 40 (B) M12 x 45 - Tighten the bolts which hold the extension case.
Tightening torque:
34 N.m (3.5 kgf-m, 25.1 ft-lb)
