Engine Compartment Temperature Switch

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove temperature switch connector and switch. Switch is located in right rear corner of engine compartment, on firewall. Place sensor in a container filled with water. Cool water to 44°F (7°C). Using an ohmmeter, check resistance across sensor terminals. Continuity should exist.
  2. Heat water in container to 67°F (19.5°C) and recheck resistance of switch. No continuity should exist. If switch does not respond as indicated, replace switch.
