TPS Inspection

  1. Disconnect TPS harness connector and throttle opener vacuum hose. Using hand vacuum pump, apply 15 in. Hg vacuum to throttle opener to move throttle lever to idle position. Using ohmmeter, check continuity between upper and lower terminals. See Figure . See THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR (TPS) RESISTANCE  table.
  2. If TPS sensor cannot be adjusted to obtain the correct values at idle, replace TPS sensor.
