Abs Actuator Assembly

  1. Ensure service brakes are in good condition and battery is fully charged. Check ABS warning light to ensure no faults are indicated.
  2. Raise and support vehicle. With transmission in Neutral, spin each wheel to ensure brakes are not dragging, repair as necessary.
  3. Install jumper wire between diagnosis switch terminal and ground terminal. See Figure . Access DTCs from ABS control module. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If any DTCs are indicated, go to appropriate DIAGNOSTIC TESTS  . If no DTCs or DTC 12 (system okay) is indicated, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition off. Ensure jumper wire is installed in diagnostic connector. Depress brake pedal and turn ignition on while assistant spins each wheel, one at a time. Each wheel should turn for approximately .5 second after key is turned on. Pump motor should be heard and pedal pulsation should be felt.
  5. If all wheels cannot be checked during one ignition cycle, turn ignition off and on and continue testing. Turn ignition off and remove jumper wire from diagnostic connector. If ABS actuator assembly does not operate as described, replace ABS actuator assembly.
