Diagnostic Work Flow

  1. Verify Concern

Get a detailed description of problem including symptom, frequency of occurrence, driving and environmental conditions. Test drive vehicle under similar conditions as fault occurs. Bring customer along if possible.
  2. Retrieve DTCs

Verify ABS warning light operates with bulb check. Perform the Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) retrieval procedure. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  . Clear DTCs then recheck for DTCs. If DTC does not immediately return after being cleared from memory, test drive vehicle and recheck for DTC or ABS warning lamp flashing.
  3. DTC Testing

If DTC code was retrieved, proceed to corresponding DTC test procedure. Repair or replace any faulty parts as described in DTC test.
  4. Intermittent Faults

If fault is not found during DTC testing, inspect probable sources or intermittent faults (e.g. wiring harness connectors, wheel sensors, etc.).
  5. Final Confirmation

After repair has been performed, test drive vehicle and check for symptom. Clear and recheck for DTCs.
