Engine Basic Inspection

This check is very important for troubleshooting when ECM has detected no DTC and no abnormality has been found in VISUAL INSPECTION:J24B .

Follow the flow carefully.

DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE

Step Action YES NO
Was "Engine and Emission Control System Check" performed?  Go to Step 2. Go to ENGINE AND EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK:J24B .
Check battery voltage 
Is it 11 V or more? 
Go to Step 3. Charge or replace battery.
Can engine be cranked?  Go to Step 4. Go to CRANKING SYSTEM SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS .
Does engine start?  Go to Step 5. Go to Step 7.
Check idle speed 
  1. Check engine idle speed, see Idle Speed and IAC Throttle Valve Opening Inspection .

Is check result as specified? 
Go to Step 6. Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS:J24B .
Check ignition system 
  1. Check ignition system, see IGNITION SYSTEM CHECK .

Is check result as specified? 
Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS:J24B . Repair or replace defective parts.
Check immobilizer system for operation 
  1. Check immobilizer control system, IMMOBILIZER CONTROL SYSTEM CHECK .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to Step 8. Immobilizer control system malfunction.
Check fuel system 
  1. Check fuel system, see FUEL SYSTEM INSPECTION .

Is it in good condition? 
Go to ENGINE SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS:J24B . Repair or replace defective parts.
