Fluids and Capacities: Fluids

CAUTION: The fluids provided in the table below represent the fluids used and approved for use. Using alternative fluids that are not approved by Tesla is done at the risk of the individual repairer and any damage that occurs as a result is not covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty or Used Vehicle Limited Warranty.

Component/System	Description
Air Conditioning	Depending on its intended sales region, the air conditioning system is filled with R134a or R1234yf refrigerant. 1012403-00-B, REFRIGERANT, R134a 2006643-00-A, REFRIGERANT, R1234yf For China only, please use the following refrigerant: 1065472-10-A, REFRIGERANT, R134A 13.5KG CYLINDER If oil needs to be added to the air conditioning system, use the appropiate oil as specified below. CAUTION: Select the corresponding refrigerant oil type according to different types of compressors. Do not mix different types of A/C system oil. Hanon or Sanden compressor type: use RB100EV A/C oil (part number 1031093-01-A) Denso compressor type: use ND-11 A/C oil (part number 1023305-00-A)
Brake Fluid	DOT 4 BASF Hydraulan 404 (part number 1012041-10-C) is the recommended brake fluid. If DOT 4 BASF Hydraulan 404 is not available, DOT 3 Dow 372LB (part number 1060099-00-A) can be used alternatively. NOTE: The brake fluid filler cap is marked 'DOT 3'. This is the minimum requirement and does not state to only use DOT 3 brake fluid. CAUTION: Only use new fluid from sealed containers.
Coolant	The cooling system contains an ethylene glycol (phosphate and nitrate free) based coolant. 1029320-00-A, ETHYLENE GLYCOL COOLANT - 50/50 MIX - 1 Gallon 1061466-00-A, ETHYLENE GLYCOL COOLANT - 50/50 MIX - 55 Gallon Drum For China only, please use the following coolant: 1012820-10-A, COOLANT, ETHYLENE GLYCOL, 50/50 MIX, 4L The overall concentration of ethylene glycol should not fall below 50% by volume to make sure that the anti-corrosion properties of the coolant are maintained. Concentrations of ethylene glycol greater than 60% are not recommended as cooling efficiency will be impaired. Tesla G-48 coolant is a pre-mixed 50/50 solution of ethylene glycol and water. The coolant is ready to use. Do not add water. CAUTION: Tesla cannot provide warranties for any type of coolant other than Tesla G-48 coolant. Use of other coolants is at your own risk.
Electrical Joint Compound	Penetrox A-13 electrical joint compound (part number 1089974-00-A).
Gearbox Fluid	EDF2 (part number 1616951-00-A) is used for both front and rear 3DU type drive units.
Windshield Washer Fluid	North America: Tesla windshield washer fluid contains 40% Methanol. 6005944-00-A, WINDOW WASHER FLUID, NEXEO - 1 Gallon 1061464-00-A, WINDOW WASHER FLUID, NEXEO - 55 Gallon Drum Europe, Middle East, Africa: Any Tesla approved ethanol-based windshield washer fluid, including, but not limited to: 1508086-99-A (ETHANOL BULK WASHER FLUID -40C) 1508086-98-A (ETHANOL TOTE WASHER FLUID -40C) 1508086-01-A (WASHER FLUID ETHANOL BULK -30C FREEZE) 1508086-00-A (WASHER FLUID ETHANOL TOTE -30C FREEZE) Asia-Pacific: Any Tesla approved windshield washer fluid, including, but not limited to: 1119197-00-A (SOLVENT, WURTH, WINDSHIELD WASHER 1L) 1089984-05-A (SOLVENT, WURTH, RAPID WINDSHIELD WASHER, 32ML) 1089984-00-A (SOLVENT, WURTH, WINDSHIELD WASHER, GAT, 30L)
