Fuel Heater

  1. Connect ohmmeter leads to fuel heater terminals. Resistance should be approximately .9 ohm.
  2. Inspect vacuum switch. Connect ohmmeter leads to switch terminal and to switch body. There should be no continuity. With a vacuum of 5.5-10.3 in. Hg applied to switch, continuity should exist. If continuity is not as specified, replace vacuum switch.
  3. Inspect fuel filter relay, located in engine compartment relay box. Remove relay. Connect ohmmeter leads to terminals 1 and 2. Continuity should be indicated. Connect ohmmeter leads to terminals 3 and 4. No continuity should be indicated. If readings are not as indicated, replace relay.
  4. Inspect fuel filter relay, for proper operation. Apply battery voltage across terminals 1 and 2. Check that there is now continuity between terminals 3 and 4. If readings are not as specified, replace relay.
