Basic Function Test

  1. Stand about 4 feet from outside driver's door handle. Point transmitter toward vehicle. Press one transmitter button for about one second. If doors lock and unlock, system is okay. If doors do not lock and unlock, go to next step.
  2. Replace transmitter battery and repeat step  1. If keyless entry operates, system is okay. If keyless entry does not operate, go to next step.
  3. Insert key in ignition switch, then remove. Insert key again and turn ignition switch to OFF, ON and OFF positions within 5 seconds. Within next 30 seconds, turn ignition switch to OFF, ON and OFF positions 9 times. System is now in self-diagnostic mode. If buzzer chirps, go to step  5. If buzzer does not chirp, go to next step.
  4. Check door control buzzer. See DOOR CONTROL BUZZER  under COMPONENT TESTS. Repair as necessary. If buzzer is okay, connect ohmmeter between integration relay connector terminal No. 5 (Red/Yellow wire) and ground. If continuity is present when key is inserted into ignition switch, system is okay. If continuity is not present when key is inserted into ignition switch, replace key unlock warning switch which is integral with ignition switch.
  5. Press LOCK button on remote transmitter. Buzzer should sound for .13 second every .5 second. Press UNLOCK button on remote transmitter. Buzzer should sound for .13 second every .25 second. Press trunk button on remote transmitter. Buzzer should sound for .5 second every .5 second. If buzzer operates as specified, go to next step. If buzzer does not operate as specified, go to step  7.
  6. If buzzer operation is as specified and operating range of transmitter was okay in step 1), system is okay. If buzzer operation is as specified but operating range of transmitter was not okay in step 1), test system using a known-good transmitter. If system is still inoperable, replace receiver.
  7. Ensure continuity is present in Green/Red wire between receiver terminal No. 2 and integration relay terminal No. 19. Also ensure continuity is present in Blue/White wire between receiver terminal No. 4 and integration relay terminal No. 21. Repair wiring as necessary. If wiring is okay, check receiver power (Red wire) and ground (White/Black wire) circuits. Repair wiring or replace fuse as necessary. If wiring is okay, replace receiver.
