Trouble Shooting: Notes

NOTE: To help save diagnostic time, perform a brief visual inspection of wire harnesses, connectors, fuses and other related components. Perform trouble shooting procedures in the order given.
  1. Retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). See RETRIEVING DTCS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. Record DTCs, then clear. See CLEARING DTCS under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS.
  2. Verify customer's complaint of symptom. If symptom does not occur, attempt to simulate by wiggling wire harnesses and connectors and lightly tapping system components.
  3. If symptom occurs, recheck for DTCs. If DTC(s) are present, identify trouble area. See DTC IDENTIFICATION under SELF-DIAGNOSTICS. Perform appropriate test and repair as necessary. See DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. If no DTCs are retrieved, go to SYMPTOM DIAGNOSIS.
