Automatic Transmission Floor Shift Cable Control Shift: Replacement

PRECAUTION (See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ).
DISCONNECT BATTERY NEGATIVE TERMINAL
REMOVE PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSY (See PARKING BRAKE HOLE COVER SUB-ASSY ).
REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL UPPER (See CONSOLE PANEL UPPER ).
REMOVE CONSOLE BOX CARPET (See CONSOLE BOX CARPET ).
REMOVE CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSY REAR (See CONSOLE BOX SUB-ASSY REAR ).
REMOVE AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ).
DISCONNECT OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR
1. Remove the foot rest.
2. Pull up the floor carpet.
3. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
REMOVE FLOOR PANEL BRACE FRONT
1. Remove the 2 nuts and floor panel brace.
REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY ).
REMOVE FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1
1. Remove the 3 nuts and heat insulator.
REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE
REMOVE AIR CLEANER HOSE NO. 1
REMOVE FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT
1. Remove the nut from control shaft lever.
2. Disconnect the control cable from the control shaft lever.
3. Remove the clip and disconnect the control cable from the control cable bracket.
4. Disconnect the control cable from the control cable support.

5. Remove the 2 nuts.

6. Remove the cable end from the rod of the floor shift assembly.

7. Using a screw driver, disconnect the control cable from the shift lever plate.

8. Remove the 2 bolts.
9. Pull out the control cable Assy from the body.
10. Remove the retainer from the shift cable.

INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT CABLE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHIFT
1. Install the retainer to the shift cable.
2. Pull in the control cable Assy to the body.
3. Install the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 5.0 N.m (50 kgf.cm, 43 in.lbf)

4. Install the control cable to the shift lever plate.

5. Install the cable end to the rod of the floor shift Assy.
  HINT:
  
  Install it with the uneven surface facing upward.

6. Install the control cable and 2 nuts.
  Torque: 12 N.m (122 kgf.cm, 9 ft.lbf)
7. Connect the control cable to the control cable support.

8. Temporarily install the control cable to the control shaft lever with the nut.
9. Install the control cable and clip to the bracket.

INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE
INSTALL FRONT FLOOR HEAT INSULATOR NO. 1
1. Install the heat insulator with the 3 nuts.
  Torque: 5.5 N.m (56 kgf.cm, 49 in. .lbf)
INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE ASSY FRONT (See REMOVAL & INSTALLATION, AND DISASSEMBLY & REASSEMBLY ).
INSTALL FLOOR PANEL BRACE FRONT
1. Install the floor panel brace with the 2 nuts.
  Torque: 29.6 N.m (302 kgf.cm, 22 ft.lbf)
INSTALL OXYGEN SENSOR CONNECTOR
1. Connect the oxygen sensor connector.
2. Install the floor carpet and foot rest.
INSTALL AIR BAG SENSOR ASSY CENTER (See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ).
ADJUST SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See ADJUSTMENT ).
INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION (See ADJUSTMENT ).
INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT (See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS ).
