Front Brake Speed Sensor: Replacement

REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR
1. Remove the front wheel.
2. Disconnect the front speed sensor connector.
3. Remove the front speed sensor with the front axle hub.
4. Remove the front speed sensor.
  1. Using a pin punch and a hammer, tap out the 2 pins and remove the 2 attachments from SST.

  2. Mount the rear axle hub in a soft jaw vise.
    NOTE: Replace the axle hub assembly if it is dropped or a strong shock is given to it.
  3. Using SST and 2 bolts (Diameter: 12 mm, Pitch: 1.5 mm), remove the speed sensor.
    SST 09520-00031 (09520-00040, 09521-00020), 09950-00020
    NOTE:
    If the sensor rotor is damaged, replace the axle hub assembly.
    
    Do not scratch the contacting surface of axle hub and speed sensor.
5. Install a new front speed sensor.
  1. Clean the contacting surface of the axle hub and a new speed sensor.
    NOTE: Take care not to stick any foreign objects to the sensor rotor.

  2. Place the speed sensor on the axle hub so that the connector makes the most downward position under the on-vehicle condition.

  3. Using SST and a press, install the speed sensor to the axle hub.
    SST 09527-10011, 09710-04101, 09950-60020 (09951-00680)
    NOTE:
    Do not tap the speed sensor with a hammer directly.
    
    Check that the speed sensor detection portion is free from foreign objects.
    
    Press in the speed sensor straight and slowly.

6. Install the front speed sensor with the front axle hub (See ).
7. Connect the front speed sensor connector, (h) Install the front wheel.
  Torque: 103 N.m (1,050 kgf.cm, 76 ft.lbf)
8. Check the speed sensor signal (See PRE-CHECK ).
LH SIDE: REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR SUB-WIRE
1. Disconnect the sensor connector from the speed sensor.
2. Remove the fender liner.

3. Remove the clamp bolt.
4. Disconnect the speed sensor sub-wire connector.

5. Remove the 2 clamp bolts and speed sensor sub-wire.
6. Install the 2 clamps of a new speed sensor wire with the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)

7. Install the clamp with the bolt.
  Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
8. Connect the front speed sensor connector.
9. Install the fender liner.

10. Connect sensor connector to the speed sensor.
11. Check the speed sensor signal (See PRE-CHECK ).

RH SIDE: REPLACE FRONT SPEED SENSOR SUB-WIRE
1. Disconnect the sensor connector from the speed sensor.
2. Remove the fender liner.

3. Disconnect the speed sensor sub-wire connector.
4. Remove the 2 clamp bolts and speed sensor sub-wire.
5. Install the 2 clamps of a new speed sensor wire with the 2 bolts.
  Torque: 5.0 N.m (51 kgf.cm, 44 in.lbf)
6. Connect the front speed sensor connector to the sub-wire connector.
7. Install the fender liner.

8. Connect the sensor connector to the speed sensor.
9. Check the speed sensor signal (See PRE-CHECK ).
