Instrument Panel: Removal

  1. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL PAD AND STEERING WHEEL (See  TILT STEERING COLUMN  )  .
  2. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATES 
  3. REMOVE COWL SIDE TRIMS 
  4. REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISHES 
  5. REMOVE LOWER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 screws and hood lock release lever.

    2. Zip the shifting hole cover open.
    3. Remove the bolt and screw.
    4. Using a screwdriver, remove the lower finish panel, then disconnect the connectors and DLC3.
    5. Remove the shifting hole cover from the lower finish panel.
  6. REMOVE FINISH PANEL 
  7. REMOVE COLUMN COVERS (See  TILT STEERING COLUMN  ) 
  8. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE (See  TILT STEERING COLUMN  ) 
  9. REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR 
    1. Rotate the stoppers of the glove compartment door to 90° and pull them out inward.
    2. Remove the 2 screws and glove compartment door.
    3. Remove the 2 screws and glove compartment door lock from the glove compartment door.
  10. REMOVE LOWER CENTER CLUSTER FINISH PANEL 
    1. Remove the 2 clips.

    2. NOTE:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    3. Using a screwdriver, remove the lower center cluster finish panel.
    4. Disconnect the connector.
  11. w/ Glove compartment door reinforcement: 

    REMOVE GLOVE COMPARTMENT DOOR REINFORCEMENT 

  12. DISCONNECT PASSENGER AIRBAG CONNECTOR 
      NOTE: When disconnecting the airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

    1. Disconnect the passenger airbag connector.
    2. Disengage the airbag connector clamp from the center bracket.
  13. REMOVE PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 20 N.m (204 kgf.cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

    2. WARNING:
      • Do not store the passenger airbag assembly with the airbag deployment side facing down.
      • Never disassemble the passenger airbag assembly.
      CAUTION: When removing the passenger airbag assembly, take care not to damage the wire harness.

    3. Remove the 2 nuts and passenger airbag assembly.
  14. REMOVE HAZARD WARNING SWITCH 
      NOTE:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the hazard warning switch.
    2. Disconnect the connectors.
  15. REMOVE CLUSTER FINISH PANEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the 2 screws.
    2. Using a screwdriver, remove the cluster finish panel assembly.

    3. Disconnect the connectors.
  16. REMOVE RADIO OR RADIO TUNER OPENING COVER 
  17. REMOVE COMBINATION METER 
      NOTE:

      Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    1. Using a screwdriver, remove the cluster finish panel.
    2. Remove the 3 screws and combination meter.
    3. Disconnect the connector.
  18. REMOVE NO. 1 AND NO. 2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLES 
    NOTE:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 1 and No. 2 side defroster nozzles.

  19. REMOVE NO. 1 AND NO. 3 REGISTERS 
    NOTE:

    Tape the screwdriver tip before use.

    Using a screwdriver, remove the No. 1 and No. 3 registers as shown in Fig 10.

  20. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN (See  TILT STEERING COLUMN  ) 
  21. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL 
    1. Disconnect the connectors.
    2. Disengage the wire harness clamps.
    3. Remove the 4 bolts, 3 screws and instrument panel.

  22. REMOVE NO. 1 BRACE 
  23. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT 

    Remove the 2 bolts, 4 nuts and instrument panel reinforcement.

  24. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE BOX 
    1. Remove the 3 bolts and rear console box.
    2. Remove the 2 screws and console compartment door from the rear console box.
