Back Window Glass: Removal
HINT:
A bolt without a torque specification is shown in the standard bolt chart (see SERVICE SPECIFICATIONS ).
- Access cab (Standard body type): Access cab (Wide body type): REMOVE REAR SEAT (See REMOVAL )
- Double cab: FOLD REAR SEAT
- Lower the headrest to the lowest position. Pull the seat-back angle adjusting lever and fold the seatback down.
- Unlock the seat legs by pulling up one of the lever on the seat legs and turn up the whole seat forward.
- Standard cab: REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATES (see REMOVAL )
- Access cab (Standard body type): Access cab (Wide body type): REMOVE ACCESS DOOR SCUFF PLATES (See REMOVAL )
- Double cab: REMOVE BACK PANEL TRIM (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ASSIST GRIPS (See REMOVAL )
- Standard cab: REMOVE FRONT PILLAR GARNISHES (See REMOVAL )
- Access cab (Standard body type): Access cab (Wide body type): REMOVE ROOF SIDE RAIL GARNISHES (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ROOM LIGHT (See REMOVAL )
- Standard cab: REMOVE COAT HOOK (See REMOVAL )
- Standard cab: REMOVE BACK PANEL UPPER GARNISH (See REMOVAL )
- Access cab (Standard body type): Access cab (Wide body type): REMOVE QUARTER TRIMS (See REMOVAL )
- Double cab: REMOVE QUARTER TRIMS LOWER (See REMOVAL )

- Standard cab:
Remove the 2 clips and the rear part of the roof headlining.
- Access cab (Standard body type):
Access cab (Wide body type): Remove the 3 clips and the rear part of the roof headlining.
- Standard cab:
- Power slide type: REMOVE BACK WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY
- Remove the 2 bolts and tether anchor brackets.
- Remove the 4 clips and 2 back panel silencer pads.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the back door glass channel cover.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Remove the 7 nuts and the back window regulator assembly.
- Power vertical type: REMOVE SERVICE HOLE COVER
- Remove the 12 bolts.
- Using a clip remover, remove the 2 clips and cover.NOTE: When the clips are removed, the cover may fall and become deformed.
- Power vertical type: REMOVE WEATHERSTRIP OUTER
- Put protective tape under the weatherstrip.
- Using a screwdriver, disengage the claws and remove the weatherstrip.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
- Power vertical type: REMOVE WEATHERSTRIP INNER
Using a screwdriver, remove the weatherstrip.
- Power vertical type: REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS
- Disconnect the defogger connector.
- Remove the 4 bolts and glass.
HINT:
Insert a shop rag inside the panel to prevent the back window glass from being scratched.
NOTE:- Do not damage the back window glass assembly.
- When the bolts are removed, the back window glass assembly might fall and become deformed.
- Power vertical type: REMOVE BACK WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY
- Disconnect the connector.
- Remove the 7 bolts and regulator.
HINT:
Remove the back window regulator assembly through the service hole.
NOTE: When the bolts are removed, the back window regulator assembly may fall and become deformed.
- Power vertical type: REMOVE BACK WINDOW MOULDING
- Remove the 8 bolts and the bracket LH and RH.
- Remove the 2 clips.
- Using a drill of less than 4 mm (0.16 in.), drill out the 14 rivet heads and remove the moulding.NOTE:
- Be sure to gently place the drill perpendicular to the rivet, otherwise the rivet hole and the drill itself will be damaged.
- Be careful as the cut rivet will be very hot
- Cover the panel with a shop rag to prevent metal debris form entering inside the panel.
- Fix type, Slide type, Power slide type: REMOVE BACK WINDOW GLASS
- Remove the 4 nuts.
- Using a screwdriver, remove the weatherstrip from the body.
HINT:
Tape the screwdriver tip before use.
NOTE: Be careful not to damage the body paint. - From the interior, insert piano wore between the vehicle body and glass.
- Tie objects tat can serve as handle (for example, wooden blocks) to all wire ends.
HINT:
Apply protective tape to the outer surface to prevent the surface from being scratched.
NOTE: When separating the glass, take care not to damage the body paint and exterior. - Cut off the adhesive by pulling the piano wire around it.
HINT:
Cut off the adhesive on the areas as shown in the illustration but leave the adhesive where the stud bolts exist.
- Pass piano wire through as shown in the illustration, and cut off the adhesive on the part adhered to the stud bolts.
- Remove the glass.NOTE: Leave as much of the adhesive on the body as possible when removing the glass.
