Heated Oxygen Sensor: Inspection

  1. INSPECT HEATER RESISTANCE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (BANK 1 SENSOR 1)
    1. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
    2. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT.

      Resistance:

      • 1ZZ-FE: 5 - 10 Ω at 20°C (68°F)
      • 2ZZ-GE: 11 - 16 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.

      Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

    3. Reconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
  2. INSPECT HEATER RESISTANCE OF HEATED OXYGEN SENSOR (BANK 1, SENSOR 2)
    1. Remove the passenger's seat.
    2. Take out the floor carpet.
    3. Disconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
    4. Using an ohmmeter, measure the resistance between the terminals +B and HT.

      Resistance: 11 - 16 Ω at 20°C (68°F)

If the resistance is not as specified, replace the sensor.

      Torque: 44 N.m (450 kgf.cm, 31 ft.lbf)

    5. Reconnect the oxygen sensor connector.
    6. Resistance the floor carpet.
    7. Reinstall the passenger's seat.
