Combination Meter: Inspection
- CHECK COMBINATION METER CIRCUIT
Check the meter terminals with the connectors connected.

Using a speedometer tester, check if the speedometer reading is within the allowable range, and check operation of the odometer.
HINT:
Tire wear and tire over inflation/under inflation will skew speedometer tester reading.
If the indicated value is out of the allowable range, replace the combination meter (see REMOVAL ).
- CHECK TACHOMETER ON-VEHICLE
- Connect a tune-up test tachometer and start the engine.NOTE: Reversing the connection of the tachometer will damage the transistors and diodes inside.
- Compare the tester reading with the tachometer reading.

- Connect a tune-up test tachometer and start the engine.
- CHECK FUEL RECEIVER GAUGE OPERATION
HINT:
Park the vehicle in a flat area.
- Disconnect the connector from the main fuel pump assembly.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and check if the receiver gauge needle indicates EMPTY.
- Connect terminals 2 and 3 of the wire harness side connector with a 3.4 W test bulb.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and check if the bulb lights up and the receiver gauge needle indicates FULL.
If operation is not as specified, inspect the main fuel sender gauge and sub sender gauge resistance.
- INSPECT MAIN FUEL SENDER GAUGE RESISTANCE
Measure the resistance between terminals 2 and 3 for each float position.

- INSPECT SUB FUEL SENDER GAUGE RESISTANCE
Measure the resistance between terminals 1 and 2 for each float position.

- CHECK LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT
- Disconnect the connector from the warning switch and ground terminal of the wire harness side connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and check if the warning light lights up.
If the warning light does not light up, test the LED or inspect the wire harness.
- INSPECT LOW OIL PRESSURE SWITCH CONTINUITY
- Check if continuity exists between the terminal and ground with the engine stopped.
- Check if no continuity exists between the terminal and ground with the engine running.
HINT:
The oil pressure should be over 24.5 kPa (0.25 kgf/cm2 , 3.55 psi).
If operation is not as specified, replace the switch.
- CHECK BRAKE WARNING SYSTEM LIGHT
- Disconnect the connector from the brake fluid warning switch.
- Connect the terminals of the level warning switch wire harness side connector.
- Start the engine. Check if the warning light lights up.
If the warning light does not light up, test the LED or inspect the wire harness.
- CHECK BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WARNING SWITCH CONTINUITY
- Remove the reservoir cap and strainer.
- Disconnect the connector.
- Check if no continuity exists between the terminals with the switch OFF (float up).
- Use a syphon or other instrument to take fluid out of the reservoir.
- Check if continuity exists between the terminals with the switch ON (float down).
- Pour the fluid back in the reservoir.
If operation is not as specified, replace the switch.
- CHECK PARKING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT
- Disconnect the connector from the parking brake switch.
- Ground the terminal of the wire harness side connector.
- Start the engine. Check if the warning light lights up.
If the warning light does not light up, test the LED or inspect the wire harness.
- INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH CONTINUITY
- Check if continuity exists between the terminal and switch body with the switch ON (switch pin released).
- Check if no continuity exists between the terminal and switch body with the switch OFF (switch pin pushed in).
If operation is not as specified, replace the switch or inspect the ground point.
- Except back door: CHECK OPEN DOOR WARNING LIGHT
- Disconnect the connector from the door courtesy switch.
- Ground the terminal of the wire harness side connector.
- Start the engine. Check if the warning light lights up.
If the warning light does not light up, test the LED or inspect the wire harness.
- Back door only: CHECK OPEN DOOR WARNING LIGHT
- Disconnect the connector from the back door courtesy switch and ground the terminal on the wire harness side connector.
- Start the engine. Check if the warning light lights up.
If the warning light does not light up, test the LED or inspect the wire harness.
- Driver's side: CHECK SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT
- Disconnect the connector from the buckle switch and ground the terminal on the wire harness side connector.
- Turn the ignition switch ON and check if the warning light lights up.
If the warning light does not light up, test the LED or inspect the wire harness.
- Driver's side: INSPECT BUCKLE SWITCH CONTINUITY
- Check if continuity exists between terminals 2 and 3 of the connector (A) with the switch ON (belt unfastened).
- Check if no continuity exists between terminals 2 and 3 of the connector (A) with the switch OFF (belt fastened).
If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
- Passenger's side: INSPECT BUCKLE SWITCH CONTINUITY
- Check if continuity exists between terminals 1 and 2 of the connector (A) with the switch ON (belt unfastened).
- Check if no continuity exists between terminals 1 and 2 of the connector (A) with the switch OFF (belt fastened).
If the continuity is not as specified, replace the switch.
- Passenger's seat only: INSPECT SEAT BELT WARNING OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR CONTINUITY
Press the sensing part and check if continuity exists between terminals 1 and 2.
If the continuity is not as specified, replace the seat cushion pad with sensor.
- INSPECT LIGHT CONTROL RHEOSTAT OPERATION
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and negative lead (-) to terminal 3.
- Connect the positive (+) lead from the voltmeter to terminal 2 and negative lead to terminal 3.
- Turn the rheostat knob and check if the voltage changes.
If the voltage is not as specified, replace the light control rheostat.
