Basic Inspection
When the malfunction is not confirmed in the DTC check, troubleshooting should be carried out in all the possible circuits considered as causes of the problem. In many cases, by carrying out the basic engine check shown in the following flowchart, the location causing the problem can be found quickly and efficiently. Therefore, using this check is essential in the engine troubleshooting.
- Is battery voltage 11 V or more when engine stopped?
- NO: Charge or replace battery.
- YES: Go to next step
- Is engine cranked?
- NO: Proceed to TEST and continue to troubleshooting
- YES: Go to next step
- Does engine start?
- NO: Go to step 6 .
- YES: Go to next step
- Check air filter.
PREPARATION:
Remove the air filter.
CHECK:
Visual check that the air filter is not excessively dirty or oily.
- NG: Repair or replace air filter.
- OK: Go to next step
- Check idle speed (See IDLE SPEED
).
- NG: Proceed to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
- OK: Go to next step
- Check fuel pressure (See FUEL PUMP
).
- NG: Proceed to FUEL PUMP and continue to troubleshooting
- OK: Go to next step
- Check for spark (See IGNITION SYSTEM
).
- NG: Proceed to IGNITION SYSTEM and continue to troubleshooting
- OK: Proceed to PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE .
