On-Vehicle Inspection
HINT:
Inspect these items when the engine is cold.
- REPLACE TIMING BELT (See REPLACEMENT )
- INSPECT DRIVE BELT (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- REPLACE SPARK PLUGS (See INSPECTION )
- Canada:
INSPECT AIR FILTER
- Remove the air filter.
- Visually check that the air filter is not excessively damaged or oily.
HINT:
Oiliness may indicate that the PCV valve is stuck.
If necessary, replace the air filter.
- Clean the filter with compressed air.
First blow from the inside thoroughly and then blow from the outside of the filter.
- Reinstall the air filter.
- REPLACE AIR FILTER
- Replace the air filter with a new one.
- REPLACE ENGINE OIL AND OIL FILTER (See REPLACEMENT )
- REPLACE ENGINE COOLANT (See REPLACEMENT
) AND INSPECT RADIATOR FIN
- Check that the radiator and condenser are not blocked with leaves, dirt or insets.
Clean them if necessary, and check the hose connection for the installation condition, corrosion etc.
- Check that the radiator and condenser are not blocked with leaves, dirt or insets.
- INSPECT GASKET IN FUEL TANK CAP (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
- INSPECT FUEL LINES AND CONNECTIONS, FUEL TANK VAPOR VENT SYSTEM HOSES AND FUEL TANK BANDS
- Visually check the fuel lines for cracks, leakage, loose connections, deformation or tank band looseness.
- INSPECT EXHAUST PIPES AND MOUNTINGS
- Visually check the pipes, hangers and connections for severe corrosion, leaks or damage.
- INSPECT VALVE CLEARANCE )
