Knock Sensor: Installation

  1. INSTALL KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR 
    1. Install the 2 knock sensors so that it is horizontal as shown in the illustration. Then install the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 20 N*m (199 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

      HINT:

      It is acceptable for the sensor to be tilted 5°.

    2. Connect the 2 knock sensor connectors.

  2. INSTALL OUTLET WATER  (See INSTALLATION )
  3. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD 
    1. Install the intake manifold with the 9 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 washers. Using several steps, tighten the bolts and nuts uniformly in the sequence shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 15 N*m (153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Retighten the outlet water mounting bolts and nuts.

      Torque: 15 N*m (153 kgf*cm, 11 ft.*lbf) 

    3. Connect the 6 fuel injector connectors.
    4. Install the ground cable with the nut.

      Torque: 8.4 N*m (86 kgf*cm, 74 in.*lbf)

  4. CONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE 
    1. Connect the inlet radiator hose.

  5. CONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE 
    1. Connect the inlet heater water hose.

  6. CONNECT FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the quick connector with the pipe, then push in the quick connector until the retainer makes a "click" sound to connect the fuel hose to the fuel pipe.
      NOTE:
      • Check that there are no scratches or foreign objects around the connecting surfaces of the quick connector and pipe before this work.
      • After connecting the fuel pipe, confirm that it is securely connected by pulling the quick connector.
    2. Install the No. 1 fuel pipe clamp.

  7. INSTALL INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK  (See INSTALLATION )
  8. INSTALL EMISSION CONTROL VALVE SET  (See INSTALLATION )
  9. INSTALL ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. INSTALL AIR CLEANER BRACKET  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  12. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  13. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  14. ADD ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine)  (See REPLACEMENT )
  15. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  16. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK (for Engine)  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  17. INSPECT FOR FUEL LEAK  (See ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION )
  18. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  19. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  (See INSTALLATION )
  20. INSTALL OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  21. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  22. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
  23. INSTALL HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL  (See INSTALLATION )
  24. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM AND BLADE ASSEMBLY RH  (See INSTALLATION )
