Knock Sensor: Removal
- DISCHARGE FUEL SYSTEM PRESSURE

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).

- REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR AND LINK ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE OUTER COWL TOP PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See REMOVAL )
- DRAIN ENGINE COOLANT (for Engine) (See REPLACEMENT )
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- SEPARATE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER RESERVOIR SUB-ASSEMBLY (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE AIR CLEANER BRACKET (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ENGINE MOVING CONTROL ROD (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE EMISSION CONTROL VALVE SET (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE INTAKE AIR SURGE TANK (See REMOVAL )
- DISCONNECT FUEL PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
- Remove the No. 1 EFI fuel pipe clamp.
- Pinch the quick connector and then pull out the No. 1 fuel pipe.NOTE:
- Remove dirt or foreign objects on the quick connector before disconnecting the connector.
- Do not allow any scratches or foreign objects on the connecting surfaces when disconnecting as the fuel hose connector has the O-ring that seals the pipe.
- Perform this work by hand. Do not use any tools.
- Do not forcibly bend, twist or turn the nylon tube.
- Protect the connecting surfaces by covering them with a vinyl bag after disconnecting the pipe.
- If the quick connector and pipe are stuck, push and pull to release them.
- DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE
- Disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
- DISCONNECT INLET RADIATOR HOSE
- Disconnect the inlet radiator hose.
- REMOVE INTAKE MANIFOLD
- Remove the nut and disconnect the ground cable.
- Disconnect the 6 fuel injector connectors.
- In order to remove the intake manifold, using several steps, remove the 9 bolts, 2 washers and 2 nuts in the sequence shown in the illustration.
- REMOVE OUTLET WATER (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE KNOCK CONTROL SENSOR
- Disconnect the 2 knock sensor connectors.
- Remove the 2 nuts, and then remove the 2 knock sensors.
