DTC Check/Clear

  1. DTC CHECK/CLEAR (for Using Techstream) 
    1. Check DTCs.
      1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
      3. Turn the tester ON.
      4. Read the DTCs by following the prompts on Techstream.
    2. Clear DTCs.
      1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
      3. Operate Techstream to clear the DTCs.

        HINT:

        Refer to Techstream operator's manual for further details.

  2. DTC CHECK/CLEAR (for Using a SST Check Wire) 
    1. Check DTCs.
      1. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.

        SST 09843-18040 

      2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
      3. Read 2-digit DTCs by observing the blinking of the ABS warning light on the combination meter.

        HINT:

        • If no code appears, inspect the ABS warning light circuit or TC and CG terminal circuit.

          TROUBLESHOOTING CHART

          ABS warning light circuit ABS WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON 
          ABS WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON 
          TC and CG terminal circuit TC AND CG TERMINAL CIRCUIT 
        • As an example, the blinking patterns of the normal system indication and DTCs 11 and 21 are shown below.

        • DTCs are explained in DTC chart (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ).
      4. After completing the check, disconnect SST from terminals TC and CG of the DLC3, and turn the ignition switch to OFF.

        HINT:

        If 2 or more malfunctions are detected at the same time, the lowest numbered DTC is displayed first.

    2. Clear DTCs.
      1. Using SST, connect terminals TC and CG of the DLC3.
      2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.

      3. Clear the DTCs stored in the ECU by depressing the brake pedal 8 times or more within 5 seconds.
      4. Check that the warning light blinks in the normal system indication pattern.
      5. Remove SST from the terminals of the DLC3.
      6. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.

        HINT:

        Clearing the DTCs cannot be performed by removing the battery cable.

  3. END OF DTC CHECK/CLEAR 
    1. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
    2. Check that the ABS warning light goes off within approximately 3 seconds.
    3. Turn the ignition switch to OFF.
