Instrument Panel Assembly Removal And Installation/Replacement

WARNING: Explosive materials 
Failure to follow specified procedures may result in death or serious injury due to improper handling of airbag modules possible.
  • Only appropriately trained persons may carry out work on pyrotechnic components or the Airbag Control Unit.
  • Perform SRS disabling procedure prior to commencing work.
  • When replacing components of the SRS system, never install used or non-genuine components.
  • Pyrotechnic Components must be handled and scrapped appropriately.

Removal Procedure: 

  1. There is potential for inadvertent deployment of SRS systems during repairs if the system has not been properly disabled. Refer to SRS DISABLING AND ENABLING
    NOTE: Ensure the 2-minute wait time has been observed before proceeding to next step.
  2. Disconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
  3. Remove Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
  4. Remove both A-Pillar Upper Trim Panel. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  5. Remove Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet (Left Side). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET (LEFT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  6. Remove Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet (Right Side). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET (RIGHT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  7. Remove Front Center Speaker. Refer to FRONT CENTER SPEAKER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  8. Remove Multi Stalk Switch. Refer to MULTI STALK SWITCH REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  9. Remove instrument panel center air outlet duct. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER AIR OUTLET DUCT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  10. Remove Instrument Panel Under Tray (Driver). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER TRAY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT (DRIVER) 
  11. Remove Instrument Panel Under Tray (Passenger). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER TRAY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT (PASSENGER)

  12. Release retaining lug (1) and loosen the unlock handle hood (2) from instrument panel in the direction of the arrow.

  13. Unlock and disconnect the LTE antenna electrical connector (1).

  14. Remove bolt (1).

    Torque: 3.5 Nm

  15. Remove bolt (1).

    Torque: 3.5 Nm

  16. Remove 4 bolts (1).

    Torque: 3.5 Nm

  17. Remove 4 bolts (1).

    Torque: 3.5 Nm

  18. Remove 4 bolts (1).

    Torque: 3.5 Nm

  19. Detach the instrument panel (1) from the instrument panel tie bar in the direction of the arrow.

  20. Unlock and disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the ambient light.
  21. Remove the instrument panel (2).

Replacement Procedure: 

  1. Rebuild Windshield Defroster Duct. Refer to WINDSHIELD DEFROSTER DUCT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  2. Rebuild Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Duct (Left Side). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET DUCT (LEFT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  3. Rebuild Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Duct (Right Side). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET DUCT (RIGHT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  4. Rebuild Side Defroster Duct (Left Side). Refer to SIDE DEFROSTER DUCT (LEFT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  5. Rebuild Side Defroster Duct (Right Side). Refer to SIDE DEFROSTER DUCT (RIGHT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  6. Rebuild Instrument Panel Ambient Light. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AMBIENT LIGHT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  7. Rebuild Instrument Panel LTE Antenna. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL LTE ANTENNA REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT

Installation Procedure:

Installation note: Make sure that the instrument panel (1) is correctly positioned on the 4 brackets.

Installation note: Make sure that the drain hose (1) is correctly positioned in the on both sides. 

  1. Installation is the reverse of removal procedure, noting the following.

    All fasteners must be tightened to torque specification! 

  2. Install Instrument Panel Under Tray (Driver). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER TRAY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT (DRIVER) 
  3. Install Instrument Panel Under Tray (Passenger). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER TRAY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT (PASSENGER) 
  4. Install instrument panel center air outlet duct. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL CENTER AIR OUTLET DUCT REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  5. Install Multi Stalk Switch. Refer to MULTI STALK SWITCH REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  6. Install Front Center Speaker. Refer to FRONT CENTER SPEAKER REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  7. Install Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet (Right Side). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET (RIGHT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  8. Install Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet (Left Side). Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL OUTER AIR OUTLET (LEFT SIDE) REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  9. Install both A-Pillar Upper Trim Panel. Refer to A-PILLAR UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT
  10. Install Instrument Panel Upper Trim Panel. Refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL UPPER TRIM PANEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT 
  11. Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal. Refer to 12V BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION
