Idle Stabilizer Test

  1. If engine stalls or is difficult to start, disconnect plugs from idle stabilizer and check contact pins for damage. If okay, connect plugs together.
  2. If starting or running problems are eliminated, replace idle stabilizer. If not, connect Timing Tester (VW 1367 ) according to manufacturer's instructions.
  3. Engage parking brake and apply service brakes. Start engine and briefly accelerate it to 2500-3000 RPM. Let engine idle and note ignition timing. Engage 4th gear and release clutch pedal slowly. Check that ignition timing advances below 940 RPM. If not, replace idle stabilizer.
