System Check

Electrical functions of entire system may be checked at multi-pin connector of ECU. Turn ignition off. Unplug multi-pin connector from ECU. Using either ohmmeter or voltmeter, check system between terminals as noted in VANAGON AFC DIGIJET SYSTEM VOLTAGE and RESISTANCE CHECKS charts. Turn ignition on when testing system.

CAUTION: Connect ohmmeter leads ONLY to terminals as specified in charts to prevent electrical damage to ohmmeter when testing system.
VANAGON AFC DIGIJET SYSTEM VOLTAGE CHECKS (1)

Voltmeter Between Terminals Components Checked Specifications
No. 1 & No. 7 AEG Hall Control Unit Battery voltage or slightly less. 1.5 volts or slightly less when center wire of ignition distributor connector is grounded.
No. 1 & Ignition Coil Terminal 15 Fairchild Hall Control Unit Battery voltage or slightly less. 1.5 volts or slightly less when center wire of ignition distributor connector is grounded.
No. 13 & No. 7 Power Supply (Left) Relay Battery voltage
No. 21 & No. 7 Starting Enrichment & Circuit Wiring Unplug all 4 injectors. Cranking voltage (starter terminal 50) present when cranking engine.
No. 20 (2) & No. 25 Fuel Pump (Right) Relay Connect jumper wire between terminals. Fuel pump must run.
No. 20 (2) & No. 25 Auxiliary Air Regulator Battery voltage present at auxiliary air regulator connector.
(1) All system checks performed with ignition ON.
(2) Never connect test lamp to this terminal if multi-pin plug is connected to ECU.
VANAGON AFC DIGIJET SYSTEM RESISTANCE CHECKS (1)

Ohmmeter Between Components Checked Specifications
No. 2 & No. 7 Coolant Temperature Sensor (II) 2300-2700 ohms at 68°F (20°C)
No. 4 (2) & No. 7 Throttle Valve Switch (Idle & Full) 0 ohms at idle stop & full throttle
No. 5 & No. 7 Oxygen Sensor 0 ohms with oxygen sensor harness connector unplugged and grounded. Infinity with sensor connected
No. 6 & No. 19 Airflow Meter Approximately 560 ohms
No. 7 & No. 25 ECU Ground Connection 0 ohms
No. 12 & No. 7/No. 11 & No. 7 Cylinder 3 & 4 Injectors & Wiring Approximately 16-16.4 ohms
No. 14 & No. 6 Intake Air Temperature Sensor (I) 2300-2700 ohms at 68°F (20°C)
No. 15 & No. 19 Air Flow Meter Resistance changes as sensor plate is moved
No. 23 & No. 7/No. 24 & No. 7 Cylinder 1 & 2 Injectors & Wiring Approximately 16-16.4 ohms
No. 25 & No. 7 ECU Ground Connection 0 ohms
(1) System checks performed with ignition ON. Prevent ohmmeter damage by checking ONLY terminals listed.
(2) NEVER connect test light to this terminal if multi-pin plug is connected ECU.
