Idle Stabilizer: Regulation

  1. Warm engine to normal operating temperature. Ensure all accessories are off. Inspect for leaks in intake air system. Check ignition timing, idle RPM and CO level. See TUNE-UP PROCEDURES section.
  2. Remove crankcase breather hose. Tightly pinch hose closed. Install Tester (VW 1315 A-1) and Adapter (VW 1315 A-2) on idle stabilizer. Operate engine at idle and note reading.
  3. Reading should be approximately 410-450 mA and fluctuate. Disconnect connector for oxygen sensor. Reading should be approximately 430 mA with a constant reading. Replace idle stabilizer if readings are not within specification.
