Rearview Camera -R189-: Function

The rearview camera is directly connected to Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794- using a video cable (CVBS ). When Reverse is selected, the rearview camera is activated and the VW emblem opens. This simultaneously triggers the transmission of signals to Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-. The short focal length of the lens and its wide viewing angle allow the entire area at the rear of the vehicle to be captured by the camera.

The video from the camera can be displayed in the infotainment system in real time. The video image is not visually processed or corrected by Information Electronics Control Module 1 -J794-.

The directional lines that overlay the video help to make estimating distances easier. They are added to the video image by the rearview camera and are transmitted to the display. The camera does not require calibration.
