Windshield Projection Head Up Display Control Module, Calibrating, With Second Vehicle: Notes
The Windshield Projection Head Up Display Control Module - J898- will be called control module in the information that follows. The Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera - R242- will be called front camera in the information that follows.
Tip
The calibration can be performed with vehicle software version 4.0 or higher. The software version can be determined via the vehicle menu.
Calibrate the control module, if:
- The instrument panel crossmember installation position has been changed.
- Instrument panel crossmember was removed and installed.
- The windshield was removed and installed.
- The control module has been removed and installed or replaced.
Condition
Ambient conditions for the calibration:
- Front camera is correctly calibrated.
- Vehicles are on a level surface.
- Distance of the vehicles between 10 m and 35 m (32.8 feet and 114.8 feet).
- Vehicle must not be overloaded.
Calibration
If the front camera is not calibrated:
-- Calibrate the front camera. Refer to Driver Assistance Systems Front Camera R242, Calibrating .
Continuation
-- Position the second vehicle at least 10 m (32.8 feet) parallel in front of the vehicle to be calibrated.
-- Remove the instrument panel/windshield projection head up display cover. Refer to Instrument Panel/Windshield Projection (Head-Up Display) Cover, Removing and Installing .
-- Connect the Vehicle diagnostic tester and start the calibration routine. Refer to Diagnostic Entries .
-- Turn screw -2- for horizontal adjustment and screw -3- for vertical adjustment on the control module -1-.
-- Adjust the object marking -3- so that the object marking is positioned parallel, horizontally in the center -1-, and vertically under the vehicle -2-.
-- Stop the calibration program using the Vehicle diagnostic tester .
