Radiator & Condenser Fan Relays

  1. Basic operation of relays used for A/C compressor and cooling fans is similar, although physical appearance of relays may be different. Remove relay to be tested. See Figure , Figure , or 4.
  2. Connect an ohmmeter to relay terminals "A" and "B". See Figure . Apply battery voltage between terminals "C" and "D". Continuity between terminals "A" and "B" should exist only when battery voltage is applied to terminals "C" and "D".
  3. If relay does not operate as specified, replace relay. If relay operates as specified, check related wiring. See TIMER UNIT & FAN CONTROL UNIT.
