Ignition Key Switch Test

  1. When the ignition key is not removed, the key-in beeper in the ICU senses ground through the closed ignition key switch. When you open the drivers door, the beeper circuit senses ground through the closed door switch. With ground at the BLU/WHT1 and A1 terminals, the beeper sounds.
  2. Remove dashboard lower cover and knee bolster. Disconnect main harness 8-pin connector. Use DVOM and check for continuity between main harness 8-pin connector terminals No. 5 and No. 8. See Fig 1. Continuity should be indicated with key in ignition switch. Continuity should not be indicated with key out of ignition switch.
