Remote Keyless Entry System Inoperative
- If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If remote keyless entry diagnostic system check was not performed, go to REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- If RKE system is inoperative from both transmitters, go to next step. If RKE system is inoperative from one transmitter, go to step 8 .
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module connector. See Figure . Using DVOM, measure voltage between RFA module connector terminal No. 1 (Orange wire) and ground. If battery voltage is indicated, go to next step. If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 5 .
- Using DVOM, measure voltage between RFA module connector terminals No. 1 (Orange wire) and No. 4 (Black wire). If battery voltage is indicated, go to step 7 . If battery voltage is not indicated, go to step 6 .
- Repair open or short to ground in Orange wire between RFA module and rear fuse block. Recheck system operation.
- Repair open in Black/White wire between RFA module and ground. Recheck system operation.
- Replace RFA module. See REMOTE FUNCTION ACTUATOR (RFA) MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Recheck system operation.
- Replace transmitter battery in faulty transmitter. Recheck system operation. If RKE system is still inoperative, go to next step.
- Replace faulty transmitter. After replacement, transmitter must be programmed. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under PROGRAMMING PROCEDURES. Recheck system operation.
