Ignition System: Overhaul: Distributor: Disassembly

1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove distributor. Remove distributor cap and rotor. Remove ignition coil dust cover. Remove wires from ignition coil. Remove 4 ignition coil mounting screws and coil. Disconnect the wire from the module. Remove module. See Fig 1.
2. Pry signal rotor and spring off shaft, using a screwdriver. Remove vacuum advance. Remove breaker plate and pick-up coil from distributor. Remove governor springs. Remove grease stopper and screw from distributor shaft.
3. Remove signal rotor shaft. Remove "C" clip and governor weights. If drive gear removal is necessary, grind off head of retaining pin. Remove pin and gear. See Fig 1.
