Test No. 1
- Enter Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostics. See BODY CONTROL MODULE article. If any BCM codes are present, repair as necessary. If no BCM codes are present, go to next step.
- While in diagnostics mode, press all buttons on transmitter one at a time. If a chime is heard when each button is pressed on transmitter, go to next step. If a chime is not heard when each button is pressed on transmitter, go to step 4).
- Reprogram all transmitters. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under SYSTEM PROGRAMMING. After programming all transmitters, verify Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) system operation. If RKE system functions properly, system is okay. Test is complete. If RKE system does not function properly, go to step 5).
- Exit BCM diagnostics. See BODY CONTROL MODULE article. Resynchronize transmitter. See TRANSMITTER SYNCHRONIZATION under SYSTEM PROGRAMMING. After synchronizing transmitter, verify proper transmitter operation. Using transmitter, lock and unlock doors. If transmitter did not operate door locks, go to step 7). If transmitter operated door locks, go to step 6).
- Enter Body Control Module (BCM) diagnostics. See BODY CONTROL MODULE article. While in diagnostics mode, press any button on transmitter. If a chime sounds when any button on transmitter is pressed, go to step 8). If chime does not sound when any button on transmitter is pressed, go to step 9).
- Test keyless entry system with transmitter. If keyless entry system operates, system is okay. Test is complete. If keyless entry system does not operate, go to step 3).
- Test keyless entry system with other transmitter which operates vehicle. If keyless entry system operates, go to step 10). If keyless entry system does not operate, go to step 3).
- Check for a poor connection at BCM connector. BCM is located under dashboard to right of glove compartment. If BCM connector is okay, replace BCM. Set system operation to customer preference. See REMOTE ACTIVATION VERIFICATION CUSTOMIZATION and REMOTE UNLOCK CONTROL CUSTOMIZATION under SYSTEM PROGRAMMING. Verify proper system operation. If BCM connector was misaligned, loose, etc., repair as necessary. Verify proper system operation.
- Check for a poor connector at Remote Control Door Lock Receiver (RCDLR) connector. RCDLR is located behind center instrument panel near windshield defrost vent. If RCDLR connector is okay, replace RCDLR. Set system operation to customer preference. See REMOTE ACTIVATION VERIFICATION CUSTOMIZATION and REMOTE UNLOCK CONTROL CUSTOMIZATION under SYSTEM PROGRAMMING. Verify proper system operation. If RCDLR connector was misaligned, loose, etc., repair as necessary. Verify proper system operation.
- Replace defective transmitter. Program new transmitter. See TRANSMITTER PROGRAMMING under SYSTEM PROGRAMMING. Verify proper system operation.
