Body Control Modules - Except Coupe: Description
The body control computer system consists of a combination of modules that communicate over the Chrysler Collision Detection (CCD) bus system on all models. Through the CCD, information related to the operation of vehicle components and circuits are relayed to the appropriate system module(s). This reduces the complexity of vehicle wiring and size of wiring harness.
Body control computer systems covered are as follows:
- Chime System
- Communications
- Compass/Mini-Trip Computer (CMTC)
- Door Ajar System
- Exterior Lighting
- Instrument Cluster
- Interior Lighting
- Power Door Locks/Remote Keyless Entry (RKE)
- Power Convertible Top
- Vehicle Theft Security System (VTSS)
- Wiper/Washer System
Body control computer fault messages are accessed through 16-pin Data Link Connector (DLC) using Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB III) scan tool or generic scan tool. DLC is located on left side of steering column, above brake pedal. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
NOTE:
Self-diagnostic tests are written specifically for Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB III) scan tool. A generic scan tool can be used, but may not be capable of performing all necessary test functions.
