Cold Start Injector

  1. Disconnect cold start injector connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between cold start injector terminals. Replace cold start injector if resistance is not 3-5 ohms.
CAUTION: Fuel line may contain residual pressure. Use caution when disconnecting fuel line.
  2. Check cold start injector flow and leakage. Remove cold start injector. If bench testing cold start injector, place container under fuel line and disconnect fuel line from cold start injector.
  3. Connect fuel hose to Special Union (SST 09268-87702-000). See Fig 1 . Attach special union to cold start injector.
  4. For on-vehicle test procedure, install Sub-Harness (SST 09991-87702-000) to 6-pin check connector. See Figure for connector location. Install jumper wire between terminals "F" and ground to operate fuel pump. See Figure .
  5. Install Special Connector (SST 09842-30050-000) on cold start injector. See Fig 1 . Insert injector into a container.
  6. For on-vehicle test procedures, reconnect negative battery cable. Turn ignition on. For all test procedures, connect positive (+) terminal of special connector to positive terminal of battery. Connect negative (-) terminal of connector to negative terminal of battery. Fuel should be injected in spray form.
CAUTION: Perform cold start injector performance test in shortest possible time. Place battery as far away as possible. DO NOT  allow sparks to occur.
  7. Disconnect negative cable of special connector from battery. Check injector for fuel leakage. Leakage should be less than one drop per minute.
  8. Replace cold start injector if fuel injection is not in spray form or leakage exceeds allowable limit. Turn ignition off. Disconnect all test equipment.
