PRNDL Indicator Does Not Operate Properly

  1. Perform INSTRUMENT PANEL CLUSTER (IPC) SYSTEM CHECK  under SYSTEM TESTING. Go to next step.
  2. If PRNDL displays all positions except PARK, PRNDL displays PARK only, or PRNDL has no gear displayed, go to appropriate test under COMPONENT TESTING  . If current problem is not listed, go to next step.
  3. Using scan tool, command IPC to display each gear on PRNDL display. If each gear is displayed when commanded, go to next step. If display does not show each gear when commanded, go to step 6).
  4. Turn ignition on. Move shift lever through range while monitoring scan tool. If display matches scan tool, go to next step. If display does not match scan tool, go to step 6).
  5. If scan tool data matches gear lever position, system is okay. If scan tool data does not match gear lever position, PCM/VCM is sending wrong information. See appropriate TESTS W/CODES article in ENGINE PERFORMANCE section:
