Chime Test 4B - Repairing Shorted Key-In Ignition Switch

NOTE: Perform CHIME TEST 4A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Disconnect key-in ignition switch connector. See Fig 1 . Using scan tool, select CHIME MONITOR. Read key-in ignition switch status. If scan tool does not display KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, replace ignition switch. If scan tool displays KEY-IN IGNITION SW: CLOSED, go to next step.
  2. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 24-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. Remove ignition key. Turn all lights and accessories off. Close all doors. Using external ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and terminal No. 14 (Light Blue wire) on BCM Black 24-pin connector. If resistance is 10 ohms or greater, replace BCM. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, repair short to ground in Light Blue wire.
