Information Center Test 5B - Service 4WD Switch Message

NOTE: Perform INFORMATION CENTER TEST 5A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Refer to DOOR LOCKS - POWER & KEYLESS ENTRY SYSTEM article. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A  .
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Remove information center from dash. Do not disconnect harness connector. Ensure information center Red connector is connected and Black connector is disconnected. Place transfer case shifter in Neutral position. Wait 20 seconds. Go to next step.
  2. If information center displays SERVICE 4WD SWITCH, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 5C  . If information center does not display SERVICE 4WD SWITCH, go to next step.
  3. If 4WD icons on information center are illuminated, repair Light Blue/Red wire (4WD All Time circuit) between terminal No. 18 on information center connector and transfer case. If 4WD icons on information center are not illuminated, go to next step.
  4. Place transfer case shifter in Low position. Wait 20 seconds. If information center displays SERVICE 4WD SWITCH, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 5H  . If information center does not display SERVICE 4WD SWITCH, go to next step.
  5. Place transfer case shifter in 4WD position. Wait 20 seconds. If information center displays SERVICE 4WD SWITCH, go to INFORMATION CENTER TEST 5I  . If information center does not display SERVICE 4WD SWITCH, system is currently functioning correctly.
