Axle Lock Switch: Installation
WARNING:
ON VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH AIRBAGS, DISABLE THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY STEERING WHEEL, STEERING COLUMN, DRIVER AIRBAG, PASSENGER AIRBAG, OR INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPONENT DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. DISCONNECT AND ISOLATE THE BATTERY NEGATIVE (GROUND) CABLE, THEN WAIT TWO MINUTES FOR THE SYSTEM CAPACITOR TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PERFORMING FURTHER DIAGNOSIS OR SERVICE. THIS IS THE ONLY SURE WAY TO DISABLE THE SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM. FAILURE TO TAKE THE PROPER PRECAUTIONS COULD RESULT IN ACCIDENTAL AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND POSSIBLE PERSONAL INJURY.
- Position the axle lock switch over the proper receptacle on the back of the accessory switch bezel (Figure ).
- Evenly push the axle lock switch into the receptacle until the snap features on the top and bottom of the switch housing are fully engaged to the receptacle.
- Reinstall the accessory switch bezel onto the instrument panel (Refer to ACCESSORY SWITCH BEZEL - INSTALLATION ).
- Reconnect the battery negative cable.
