Retrieving Codes

  1. ABS system can store trouble codes when system fault is detected. To retrieve trouble codes, locate ABS control unit under right side of front passenger seat. Fold back carpet to expose ABS control unit LED. See Fig 2 .
  2. Drive vehicle at 19 MPH (30 km/h) for at least one minute. When system fault is detected, dash board warning light will illuminate. About 5-12 seconds later, ABS control unit LED light will start to flash if a trouble code is stored. With vehicle stopped and engine running, count LED flashes. See illustration for example. See Fig 1 .
  3. The ABS control unit can display only one code at a time. If more than one code is stored, the lowest number code will be displayed first. If necessary, drive the vehicle after repairing the first code to store and read any additional codes. Observe and record trouble code. Perform appropriate DTC test under TESTING  . Refer to the ABS DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES  .
