System Tests: Pre-Inspection
WARNING:
Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on security without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
CAUTION:
When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exists until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See
COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
NOTE:
Airbag system wiring harness is located near security control module. Air bag connectors are Yellow. Use caution when working around security module to not disturb airbag system components.
- Remove and check fuse No. 7 (20-amp) in main fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and go to next step.
- Remove and check fuse No. 2 (15-amp) in main fuse block. If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, replace fuse and go to next step.
- Disconnect 4-pin fuse block connector F68. Using voltmeter measure voltage between ground and fuse block connector terminal No. 4. See Fig 1 . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring between fuse block and battery.
- Disconnect security control module connector located under front console box. Measure voltage between ground and control module connector terminal No. 11. See Fig 2 . See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring between fuse block and security control module.
- Disconnect 4-pin fuse block connector F68. Using voltmeter measure voltage between ground and fuse block connector terminal No. 2. If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring between fuse block and battery.
- Measure voltage between ground and security control module connector terminal No. 13. See WIRING DIAGRAMS . If voltage is more than 10 volts, go to next step. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair wiring between fuse block and security control module.
- Ensure ignition is off. Measure resistance between ground and control module connector terminal No. 14. If resistance is less than 10 ohms, go to BASIC DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE . If resistance is more than 10 ohms, repair wiring between control module and chassis ground.
