Torque Converter: Installation

1. Engage the input shaft spline with the turbine liner spline.
2. Engage the stator shaft spline with the stator spline while turning the torque converter 180° clockwise.
   NOTE: If it is difficult to engage the stator shaft spline with the stator spline, turn the converter about 10 mm (0.4 in) counterclockwise and then turn the torque converter clockwise again to engage the splines.
3. Turn the torque converter clockwise to engage the key of the oil pump drive gear with the key groove of the torque converter.

1. Measure the dimension "A" from the engine end surface to the torque converter mounting surface of the drive plate.

2. Measure the dimension "B" from the converter case end surface to the drive plate mounting surface of the torque converter, and check that "B" exceeds "A".

   Specification: 

   B = A + 1 mm (0.04 in) or more
