Output Speed Sensor: Inspection

  1. Check for oil leaks.
  2. Check the output revolution sensor unit.
    1. Remove the output revolution sensor. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR>REMOVAL .
      CAUTION: Be careful not to damage the output revolution sensor.
    2. Check the continuity between terminals.

      Terminal No. Judgment standards
      1 - 2 Continuity exists
    3. Apply battery voltage between terminals.
      CAUTION: When applying battery voltage, do not mix up the positive (+) side and the negative (-) side.
      When applying battery voltage, set a 100 Ω resistance and an ammeter on the negative (-) side.
    4. Check the current when an iron bar is moved left and right within a 5 mm (0.2 in) range from the output revolution sensor tip.

      (B) 100 Ω resistance

      2 (+) - 1 (-) Fast 12.0 - 16.0 mA
      2 (+) - 1 (-) Slow 4.0 - 8.0 mA
    5. Install the output revolution sensor. Ref. to AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION>OUTPUT SPEED SENSOR>INSTALLATION .
