Remove, Overhaul & Install: Remove/Install/Overhaul: Carburetor: Disassembly

  1. Turn fast idle cam counterclockwise far enough to line up holes in cam and bracket. See Figure . Insert pin or drill bit to lock cam and bracket in position.
  2. Disconnect 3 hoses and accelerator pump lever from carburetor air horn. Remove 5 air horn mounting screws and loosen idle-up bracket screw. See Figure .
    NOTE: Never loosen the 4 screws mounting thermo element at this point.
  3. Remove float, needle valve, needle valve seat and filter from air horn. Remove 2 return springs and 2 screws mounting microswitch bracket to remove microswitch bracket.
    CAUTION: DO NOT  remove idle and wide open throttle microswitches from their mounting brackets.
  4. Remove both primary and secondary main jet plugs. Noting position of each jet, remove both main jets from side of float chamber. Separate throttle body from main body after removing four screws from lower throttle body.
CAUTION: DO NOT  disassemble mixture control solenoid and accelerator pump piston.
